Tump Terrett Castle, also known as Trellech Castle, is a medieval motte-and bailey site in the village of Trellech, south Wales.

The castle consists of a large, steep sided earthen mound with a flat summit about 14 metres across, surrounded by traces of a defensive ditch—best preserved on the northern side.

First recorded before 1231, it likely served as an administrative centre within the Norman lordship of Usk and stood beside a thriving planned town established by the de Clare family. By the late 13th century, Trellech had grown into one of the largest towns in Wales, larger even than Chepstow, though it later declined.

Archaeological surveys indicate structural remains in the former bailey area, Today, the site survives as a scheduled monument and an important example of early Norman fortification.

Just a short flight away are Harold's Stones -a striking trio of Bronze Age standing stones forming a 12 metre alignment, each one leaning at a different angle—likely due to subsidence or centuries of disturbance rather than intentional design.

The tallest stands over 4 metres high, with the others measuring roughly 3.5 and 3 metres. Their original purpose is unknown, though they may once have been part of a larger ritual landscape. The stones were significant enough to influence the village’s name—Trellech, often interpreted as “village of the three stones.

For those interested in ancient historic churches, The Church of St Nicholas is the local parish church with its origins in the 14th century. The historical and architectural evidence suggests that it was constructed largely in a single building period c.1300. It’s a Grade 1 listed building and nice to view from the air

Beautiful spot for flying and after a long research to make sure it's safe and legal I have decided to give it a go. There is so much more to see in this location including walking all the way up to the Ogmore Castle - and we went there before just without a drone and in another direction you will find a Dunraven Bay with a castle (or a footprint of the castle) I'm not too sure as we didn't get past the parking gate due to only cash accepted.
Parking is available and the earlier you arrive the better

Grosmont Station is a unique transport hub in North Yorkshire, England. It serves as the vital junction where the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) connects to the national rail network via the Esk Valley Line. It features a historic 1952-themed setup, active engine sheds, and the 1835 George Stephenson tunnel.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Operates daily from Easter through late October, providing steam and heritage diesel services between Grosmont, Goathland, and Pickering.

The station has a gift shop, Tea Room, accessible public toilets, and a nearby Pay and Display car park. Walking Trails: The 3.5-mile Rail Trail begins here, running along George Stephenson’s original railway line to Goathland and my TOAL was from this trail overlooking the station below.

Cotswold Lavender Farm, Tewkesbury (By fatbaldbloke)

Arial views of the Snowshill/Cotswold Lavender Farm. Saw the purple fields after leaving Broadway Tower and took the drone up to investigate. Went to the actual farm the day after to take some camera shots through the gates.

TOAL was from a lay-by on Buckle Street just a mile or so South of Broadway Tower

Sefton Park Cricket Club, lower pitch, Liverpool (By redhed17)

This is a great are to practice when you get a drone. There is an artificial grass area to take off from and land. The area is enclosed on three sides, and there is hardly anyone walking through the space. It is quite large area to fly around.
