St Thomas à Becket Church, Warblington, Hampshire added to Places of Worship in South East by macspite on 16/09/2020

The take off location is on a long distance footpath Park near the church, being careful to leave the farmyard access clear for large vehicles. Walk into the cemetery and head toward the southwest corner where you will find a kiss-gate opening onto the footpath. The church and the remains of Warblington Castle along with the farm are what remains of the settlement, the population drifted toward the village of Emsworth two miles eastward. South lies the water of Chichester Harbour and Hayling Island, to the west is the village of Langstone, now a suburb of Havant which lies to the north. Rhe footpath continues along the coast ih directions. The two Langstone pubs are in walking distance and also photogenic. An alternative access to the footpath is to park in the large car park of the Ship at Langstone, walk eastward and, after your flight walk back toward your car - but drink in the Royal Oak, it's a nicer pub! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Thomas_%C3%A0_Becket_Church,_Warblington Warblington Castle

Dolwyddelan Castle, Snowdonia (By Mavic2Pro)

CADW property, but you can take off from the fields across the road. The car park was empty when I visited due to COVID.

Llanberis Pass (A4086) (By Mavic2Pro)

Beautiful but rugged location. Park in car park at top of pass, along the road or in Llanberis (and get the shuttle bus). Mountains, streams, bridges, cliffs - amazing.

Lowgill Viaduct, South Lakeland (By CSB73)

Lowgill Viaduct was built in 1859 by Joseph Locke. It has been disused for years and is now classed as listed. Parking around here is limited so could be tricky. There is a small layby under one of the arches so this is a possibility if you are lucky. I flew on a windy day so couldn't get much altitude with the quad. Also both the M6 and the West Coast mainline are close by but shouldn't be a concern if flying responsibly.

Leaderfoot, Melrose, Scottish Borders (By Drumsagard)

From the small car park just off the A68 walk down to the viewpoint at the old Drygrange Bridge. From their go through the gate on the old minor road on your left which leads up the hill to the Trimontium Roman site. My TOAL spot was at the edge of the minor road (closed to traffic and is now a public footpath) at the Trimontium information board.

Mount Snowdon, North Wales (By Mavic2Pro)

Quite an easy walk up to Llyn Llydaw on the Miners Track (even for me with a lung missing lol). Park at the Pen-y-pass car park at the top of the Llanberis Pass (A4086). The views of Snowdon are spectacular. From Llyn Llydaw you can stride out and continue the ascent of the mountain if you have the energy (and water!).

Achmelvich Bay (By CSB73)

This is a stunning area of Scotland. Although there is a campsite at the location there are plenty of public paths, open land and rocky outcrops to take off and land from. Most of the Highlands seem to be covered in restricted airspace but this location is well outside this. There are a few small public car parks dotted about the area all within easy walking distance to the coast and beaches.
