Where to fly your drone

Southwick, Hampshire added to Historic Buildings in South East by macspite on 22/09/2020

Southwick is a village almost entirely owned by the Southwick Estate. Southwick Hall (HMS Dryad) was the headquarters of SHAEF and was the centre for D-Day planning in WW2 I parked on Back :Lane. passenger side tight to the hedge about 100 yards from the junction with the High Street. There is a driveway that appears to belong to the house with a flagpole in its front garden but it is also the start of a county council footpath. Take it over a footbridge over a tiny stream and the pathway leads to open fields, in part used to grow Christmas trees. From the path you can launch and get enough height to photograph the village or take a 360 pano.. Pick your colour, Red or Gold to enjoy a drink at one of the Lions in the High Street. There's another nearby site that will give a view of the village with the Defence Police School in the foreground, see details in the discussion thread on Grey Arrows.

Lennox Castle, Glasgow (By Drumsagard)

Leaving Lennoxtown on Glen Road you will come to a roundabout, turn left on to Newbridge and cross the river. You will see room for a couple of cars on the right. Follow the footpath which joins up with the old access road to the castle (a 1km walk through woodland). I TOAL from the forestry road west of the castle. Although not in the Glasgow FRZ, it is on a flight path, so keep an eye out, though I did tend to hear them before I saw them.

Crown Property so permission not needed. Plenty of pull-ins along the coast road. Beaches are sparsely populated but just be aware of Dog walkers etc. Scenery is stunning and massive skies. Can get quite windy so you have to choose your flight days care4fully.

Slemish (By TheFatController)

Just outside Ballymena, near the village of Broughshane, Slemish has a free car park with a small information centre & toilets (which are temporarily closed due to covid). There are great views from the top even without a drone. It is a very exposed mountain and can often be too wet or windy to fly, which is when your backup (phone?) camera comes in handy.
