Portsdown Hill (Mick's Monster Burgers) added to Everything Else in South East by macspite on 21/09/2020

A misaligned pano (the aircraft moved some 55 metres between first and last shot). But ok to illustrate a location on the edge of a HIRTA and close to a beacon. From the launch point you can see the city of Portsmouth, the top of Portsdown Hill and the land running north toward Petersfield, and, depending on time of day and thus height of sun, see clearly toward Southampton or Bognor. Good place for night shots of Portsmouth. The launch site I chose was down the slope away from the car park, Be careful of the picnic tables, they contain a lot of metal, stay 10 metre away if you don't want to recalibrate you compass. The car park is home to the justly famous Mick's Monster Burgers, open 24/7. The location is a very poular meeting place for car and motorbike clubs as well as the general public

Lennox Castle, Glasgow (By Drumsagard)

Leaving Lennoxtown on Glen Road you will come to a roundabout, turn left on to Newbridge and cross the river. You will see room for a couple of cars on the right. Follow the footpath which joins up with the old access road to the castle (a 1km walk through woodland). I TOAL from the forestry road west of the castle. Although not in the Glasgow FRZ, it is on a flight path, so keep an eye out, though I did tend to hear them before I saw them.

Crown Property so permission not needed. Plenty of pull-ins along the coast road. Beaches are sparsely populated but just be aware of Dog walkers etc. Scenery is stunning and massive skies. Can get quite windy so you have to choose your flight days care4fully.

Slemish (By TheFatController)

Just outside Ballymena, near the village of Broughshane, Slemish has a free car park with a small information centre & toilets (which are temporarily closed due to covid). There are great views from the top even without a drone. It is a very exposed mountain and can often be too wet or windy to fly, which is when your backup (phone?) camera comes in handy.
