Regulations are constantly changing. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying the same location.

Lowgill Viaduct, South Lakeland (By CSB73)

Lowgill Viaduct was built in 1859 by Joseph Locke. It has been disused for years and is now classed as listed. Parking around here is limited so could be tricky. There is a small layby under one of the arches so this is a possibility if you are lucky. I flew on a windy day so couldn't get much altitude with the quad. Also both the M6 and the West Coast mainline are close by but shouldn't be a concern if flying responsibly.

Leaderfoot, Melrose, Scottish Borders (By Drumsagard)

From the small car park just off the A68 walk down to the viewpoint at the old Drygrange Bridge. From their go through the gate on the old minor road on your left which leads up the hill to the Trimontium Roman site. My TOAL spot was at the edge of the minor road (closed to traffic and is now a public footpath) at the Trimontium information board.

Mount Snowdon, North Wales (By Mavic2Pro)

Quite an easy walk up to Llyn Llydaw on the Miners Track (even for me with a lung missing lol). Park at the Pen-y-pass car park at the top of the Llanberis Pass (A4086). The views of Snowdon are spectacular. From Llyn Llydaw you can stride out and continue the ascent of the mountain if you have the energy (and water!).

Achmelvich Bay (By CSB73)

This is a stunning area of Scotland. Although there is a campsite at the location there are plenty of public paths, open land and rocky outcrops to take off and land from. Most of the Highlands seem to be covered in restricted airspace but this location is well outside this. There are a few small public car parks dotted about the area all within easy walking distance to the coast and beaches.

Lough Money (By TheFatController)

There is a small carpark at the lough, or you can park at The Barn pub in Saul village and walk the quiet roads and lanes to get there. Slieve Patrick, nearby, is also drone friendly. There are plenty of open fields, quiet lanes and few houses in the locality.

Bidston Hill (By kvetner)

Hill with good views over Birkenhead, Wallasey etc, and two interesting buildings: the Bidston Windmill, and Bidston Observatory. Hazards: The area is popular with walkers, so avoid busy times. Parking: I parked on Boundary Road near the entrance to the nature reserve / urban farm car park: postcode CH43 7PD, although you can park in the car park itself during its opening hours.

Carrington Estate, Trafford (By kvetner)

The Carrington Estate covers a wide area between Sale, Carrington and Partington in Trafford. It is privately owned, and crossed by some public footpaths as well as a series of "permissive paths", which the owner allows the public to use for leisure except for certainy prohibited activities (quad biking etc). Photography opportunities include agricultural land plus former and current industrial sites. Accessibility: several of the paths are rutted and muddy, especially in winter, and sometimes overgrown in the winter. Walking boots or a mountain bike are advisable. Some paths are only accessible through narrow barriers which may not be suitable for wheelchairs. Hazards: several overhead power lines especially towards the north west. Other footpath users. Parking: On the west side of the area, I have parked at Heath Farm Lane https://w3w.co/importing.describes.cheeses, the track heading east is barred to vehicles ok on foot or bicycle, and gives access to many of the paths in the area. On the east edge, I have parked near Firsway Health Centre (https://w3w.co/dreams.term.yard), there is a path heading north-west into the estate about 100m west along Firs Way road. Take-off spots: The pin indicates an area of hardstanding (https://w3w.co/schooling.jump.awaiting) accessible via paths from Heath Farm Lane. Very secluded but significant magnetic interference from metal in the concrete surfacing. Other take-off spots that I have used include the following, but there are several places adjacent to fields which are suitable so long as you avoid disturbance to other path users: https://w3w.co/unearthly.mouse.resonates https://w3w.co/housework.tables.vegans https://w3w.co/woven.cheat.homes

Southwick Estate Solar Farm, Hampshire (By macspite)

The track I followed is a County Council ROW. People less lazy than me can refer to the definitive 1:10000 map for paths closer to the solar arrays. https://www.hants.gov.uk/rh/row/maps/1607.pdf The farm is one of the largest in the UK with a 48 megawatt capacity which can supply nearly 15,000 homes.

Southwick, Hampshire (By macspite)

Southwick is a village almost entirely owned by the Southwick Estate. Southwick Hall (HMS Dryad) was the headquarters of SHAEF and was the centre for D-Day planning in WW2 I parked on Back :Lane. passenger side tight to the hedge about 100 yards from the junction with the High Street. There is a driveway that appears to belong to the house with a flagpole in its front garden but it is also the start of a county council footpath. Take it over a footbridge over a tiny stream and the pathway leads to open fields, in part used to grow Christmas trees. From the path you can launch and get enough height to photograph the village or take a 360 pano.. Pick your colour, Red or Gold to enjoy a drink at one of the Lions in the High Street. There's another nearby site that will give a view of the village with the Defence Police School in the foreground, see details in the discussion thread on Grey Arrows.
