Meetup at Barr Beacon NORTH car park. in West Midlands region organised by @Foley (Already held)

On Sunday, 2nd August 2026 starting at 10:00 and ending at approximately 14:00.

Suitable for Camera Drones & FPV Drones.

We will be there for 10am If you get there any earlier we always park in front of the blue binoculars (unless some dog walker has jumped in our space). Please try to keep this space clear so people know which car is ours. Please note on the map where we are as we are in the north car park. If the gate you are about to enter is directly at a road junction then this is the wrong gate. With the road and entrance on your right continue to drive till you see the traffic lights ahead of you. It is the gates on your right before the traffic lights. There is a height restriction of 2.67m / 8.9ft use the left lane to avoid tyre damage as there are two lanes, one in and one out and if the road bends to the left then that is the correct one. This is a great location for people who have any mobility issues as you can fly from your car and should it rain then you can sit in your car until it stops. There are no toilets on site but there is a pub (The Foley Arms) a short drive. There is also an Asda that is also a short drive with toilets and a pub called the Cat And Fiddle close by. It is a nice open space high up. Great views.
Please also note that during this meet we will once again be monitoring this thread so if you can not find us, send a message to us here and we will reply. If you are over the other side we will have a fly over and see where you are.

If you have a remote control car, bring it along as it is also a great place to drive one, as there is a long stretch of grass that is flat and also an off road course that can be driven on depending on your car.

We avoid the monument side as the side we go on is less busy and there tent to be a few idiots who go to the other side.

Not got a drone, thinking about it, there are a few different drones so you can get an idea of some of them. Thanks to the support for people coming to our meets. It is great when we see each car turn up. Do not forget to come and see me (somewhere by the orange car) so we can check you in. If we have printed a card for you please bring it. If we have not then come and ask us for one to be printed.

Barr Beacon is a nice open space high up and on a good day you can see the mountains in Wales which is quite impressive. Also on clear days you can see Birmingham Air Port.

Barr beacon has two separate entrances and two exits. You can only get between the two locations by foot or by leaving and re entering. To confirm you are in the right one, the entrance will be with traffic lights in sight and not right on a junction. The road up starts with a slight incline and then curves to the right. The wrong entrance is an immediate incline. If you are in the wrong one when you exit there is a motorised gate. If you exit at a motorised gate, turn right and use the next entrance further up on the right.

Dunraven Bay, Vale of Glamorgan (By Victoria_Graholska)

Dunraven Bay (Southerndown Beach), is a scenic beach in South Wales featuring a sandy shore, rich fossil-hunting rock pools, and historic walled gardens.

It's a beautiful place to spend entire day there walking, enjoying the views, have a picnic and for any water activities.

Flying drone is a sheer joy as it reveals breathtaking views of the cliffs, which were formed in the various historic times and are so unique.

Walled gardens add a special character to the place.

There is a parking for which you will be asked to pay £5 in cash, ample parking further up the hills, toilets and accessible toilets were open and well maintained.

Snack Shop was closed so can't comment on that. It's about 20 minute walk towards Ogmore Beach where you will find nice place to eat called West Farm Southerndown Coastal Retreat.

Thoroughly enjoyed this location!
