High Force Waterfall (By stevesb)

the road for Breedon Quarry isn't an access road and is private. if you decide to use it do so at your own risk as there are signs saying no access to the waterfall.
the official spot to park is at the hotel. with access on the other side to 2 footpaths one for each side of the river. both are easy walks between 600 & 1000m to the falls.

Parked in the car park. there is a tea room during opening hours for refreshments and the coffee wasn't half bad. I didn't ask for permission but i would assume if you wanted to then the cafe would be the place to do it. but if they said no there are footpaths all around and even the A570 bridge over the canal to launch from.

Parking is quite obvious if you follow sat nav.

there is a short easy walk from the car park to the abbey.
there are some information boards to read on site.

this is English heritage and the google maps says there is a £2 for parking but i couldn't see any one or where to pay. nor was there any one around to ask if i could fly.

I just pulled up at the side of the road slightly to the north. and flew from there, once flown (or before) Middleham is just up the road where there are tea rooms and also Middleham castle

Although this is English Heritage if you are flying sub 250 you can take off in the street outside.
although it is a small village there are a few places to park and walk to the castle. and the castle does have a tea room but there are others along with pubs in the village.
disclaimer here, i was there at 07.20 in the morning having left home at 5.45. so it was quiet.

Glasson Junction at Galgate (By stevesb)

500m trek down the canal path from Galgate this one, but it's a pleasant walk. ( i did cheat as i was taking my lad fishing and drove down the access road that leads to the lock keeper house, i don't recomend it though). You could park at the Plough ( ///standards.cracking.global ) or another location in the village and walk from there.

A nice relaxing spot for fishing as well so a bonus there.
Be aware that Canal and river trust don't authorise flights from their land.
I'm not sure on the ownership of the access road as it is also access to farm fields so i would use that for TOAL

Whalley Abbey and viaduct (By stevesb)

It's highly unlikely that permission to fly would be allowed from the grounds. i parked in 2 places to get my shots.

You will need clearance from the CAA for a flight here as it's in the restricted area of Hetsham Nuclear power station
the form is https://applications.caa.co.uk/CAAPortal/servlet/SmartForm.html?formCode=BAL
You may be required to give 28 days notice to the CAA

you will then need to contact Heysham powerstation security before and after take off

you can park in the car park in Halfmoon Bay carpark which is on the bend of Smithy lane.

Lancaster Castle and Priory, Lancaster (By stevesb)

I would suggest the diocese of lancaster to confirm permision but as the area is classed as a park surrounding the castle i am assuming that the rules that lancaster city council have come into play in that there are no regulations in regard to drones.
for parking there are various locations in the city of lancaster most with in a short walk of the castle and priory. And the train station is a 2 minute walk away
There are usually events of some description on at the castle and there is access to go inside during opening hours
just down the hill there is a pub called the merchants for refreshments or across from the merchants is the Royal kings arms.

which ever way you aproach it's not a 2 minute walk up to the tower so plan where you are going to park carefully. i parked at the top of Belgrave Rd in Darwen and it's still a mile to the tower all up hill

the marker is actually in the car park over the canal from the cathedral the spire can be seen from the car park so VLOS can be maintained. or you can walk closer to the cathedral. this is a city center location so legality of flight depends on qualification or drone class.

Nice little walk with 2 viaducts to film or photograph, note this is a wildlife conservation area but i think it's more to do with plants as it's ancient woodland.

You can park at the side of the road at various places. it's a small but difficult walk to the base of the waterfall very steep but there are natural stone steps, so not really for someone who may be a little unsteady on their feet

Easy to park up with a great church to shoot. As there is a quarry below the is an escarpment to use for great reveal shots.
As it's very close to East Midlands it's worth contacting ATC before flying.

There is a pay and display carpark as you arrive at the location on the left. then cross the road and walk to the sea wall walk to the left and there are some steps to get on to the "beach" not that it is much of one. but it is a great area to take off and land.
